The Division of Analytical Chemistry (DAC) is a section of "The European Association for Chemical and Molecular Sciences" (EuCheMS) and is not legally independent.

EuCheMS takes over the role and responsibilities of the Federation of European Chemical Societies and Professional Institutions. It is a non-profit-making organisation, and consequently DAC is a non-profit-making organisation as well. The object of EuCheMS is to promote co-operation in Europe between those non-profit-making scientific and technical societies in the field of chemistry whose membership consists largely of individual qualified chemical and molecular scientists and whose interests include the science and/or practice of chemistry. It was founded in 1970. EuCheMS is a partner in AllChemE (Alliance for Chemical Sciences and Technologies in Europe) and is an Associated Organisation of IUPAC. For further information about EuCheMS see this link (http://www.chemsoc.org/networks/enc/fecs.htm).

The Chairman of DAC is Professor Bo Karlberg of the Swedish Chemical Society; he took office as Chairman of DAC in January 2005, succeeding Professor Miguel Valcárcel of Sociedad Española de Química Analítica (Spain).
